But it wasn’t just the goal that got people talking.
Oh no. The 21-year-old just happens to be on loan at Frank Lampard’s side from a certain Liverpool – and he did not waste any time in reminding United fans where his allegiance lies.
The five times hand gesture, made famous by Fernando Torres during his spell at Anfield, is a nod to Liverpool’s haul of Champions Leagues. United have three.
