McManaman, 34, left City at the end of the 2004/5 season and has been working as a pundit for British and ESPN star (Asia) since quitting the game.
The right-sided midfielder's Anfield career spanned a decade before a four-year stint at Real which saw him win over the fans and scored in the 2000 Champions League final in the 3-0 win over Valencia.
He then joined Manchester City on a free although his two year spell was less successful.
Mcmanaman played 37 times for England.
