Louis van Gaal introduces Chris Smalling as 'Mike' during Manchester United press conference

Louis van Gaal forgot Chris Smalling's name during Manchester United's press conference on Tuesday.

Van Gaal referred to the England international defender as 'Mike Smalling' while he was informing the media of his captain's for the coming season.

"That’s my philosophy, the players have to accept the captain," van Gaal said.

”The first captain is Wayne Rooney, the second captain is Michael Carrick and last year the third captain was Mr Mike Smalling, sorry, Chris!’

We're not sure what's worse; getting a player's name wrong or completely mispronouncing it like Joe Kinnear famously did in June 2013.
