Paris Saint-Germain crowned Ligue 1 champions again with six games to spare after victory over Angers

Paris Saint-Germain wrapped up the Ligue 1 title with six games to spare to mark the perfect preparation ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final with Aston Villa. A 1-0 victory at home to Angers on Saturday ensured that the chasing pack were mathematically out of the race. Luis Enrique's side are still on course for a historic unbeaten season and a quadruple.

Paris Saint-Germain have won the 2024/25 Ligue 1 title with six games to spare after Saturday's 1-0 win over Angers.
The result, sealed by a second-half winner from Desire Doue, made it mathematically impossible for second-place Monaco to catch up, sitting 24 points behind with seven games remaining.
Luis Enrique's side are on course for what could be a remarkable campaign, as they remain unbeaten in the league and in contention for UEFA Champions League and Coupe de France silverware.
It marks a record-extending 13th Ligue 1 crown for PSG and their fourth in a row.
"Our ambition is to win everything," captain Marquinhos told beIN Sports.
"It is a nice feeling. It is the reward for the work we have put in throughout the season, for our consistency, and the team deserves it."

Ousmane Dembele has starred for the Parisians, leading the scoring charts with 21 league goals, while Bradley Barcola has proved their greatest creator with 10 assists.
It is only the third time a league title has been won this early; PSG sealed it with eight games left in 2015/16, and Lyon also with six games to go in 2006/07 - per the BBC.
That PSG side of 2016 are the only French team to have wrapped up the title earlier in the year, having done so by mid-March.
"Staying a long time in a top-level team is truly a challenge. The titles will remain in history," Marquinhos added.
"We have the ambition to win everything. When we don’t win the French championship, it hurts, and that has happened to me twice.
"The team deserves to win. It’s in our DNA to give everything on the field, to have an aggressive philosophy, to sweat for the jersey in every match, no matter the opponent. Since I was young, I’ve played for teams with this DNA. It’s nice to see the supporters happy."
And Enrique's side still have some history to chase before the end of the season, as they are currently unbeaten in 28 Ligue 1 games (W23 D5), putting them just four games shy of Nantes' record of 32 games unbeaten from the start of a season in 1994/95.
Should PSG go the rest of the season unbeaten, they would be the first French side to achieve the feat and join Bayer Leverkusen (2024), Juventus (2012), Arsenal (2004), AC Milan (1992), Perugia (1979) and Preston North End (1889) as the only teams from Europe's five major leagues to do so.
Enrique led his side to a domestic treble in his debut season last term, winning Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Trophee des Champions.
The Spaniard will repeat the feat if PSG can beat Reims in the Coupe de France final on May 24.
However, their focus will now be on a UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Aston Villa, live on TNT Sports and discovery+.

PSG welcome the Birmingham club to Paris on Wednesday, April 9 for the first leg before the return at Villa Park on Tuesday, April 15.
"We will prepare well," added Marquinhos, who is suspended for the first leg against Villa.
"We come in with three victories, the end of the season is very exciting, with great things to pursue. We will stick to our mentality, the coach is very good for that."
The French champions have never won the Champions League before, having reached the semi-finals last year and finished as runners-up in 2019/20.
The Parisian club's only piece of major European silverware remains the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1995/96.
