Rennes profit from late own goal to go third

A last minute own goal from Ajaccio defender Roderic Filippi gifted new Rennes boss Rolland Courbis victory in his first match in charge.

Filippi’s misfortune handed the hosts a 1-0 win and saw them climb third in Ligue 1.

Despite their lofty position in the French top-flight, Rennes had gone 10 matches without winning at home prior to Friday’s clash – prompting a change of management as Courbis replaced the axed Philippe Montanier in the dugout.

Ajaccio stay 13th in the table, only five points clear of the relegation zone.
