Lille's CL hopes dented by loss at Nice

Mathieu Bodmer got the only goal of the game with a clever backheel in first-half stoppage time to give mid-table Nice the three points.

Lille are in the third and final Champions League place but are now just one point ahead of St Etienne.

Lille coach Rene Girard said: "We were inefficient, that sums up the way we played against a Nice side that appeared vulnerable.

"They didn't really put us in danger, but we conceded a goal at the worst moment."

Marseille missed the chance to take full advantage of Lille's loss as they could only draw 2-2 at home to Toulouse.

Dimitri Payet and Mathieu Valbuene twice put them ahead but Ben Yedder and Serge Aurier netted equalisers.

Marseille remain fifth, five points behind Lille.

Sixth place Lyon also suffered a poor defeat as they crashed to a 2-0 loss at Rennes in the day's other game.
