The Frenchman is currently on a season-long loan at Wearside and after only scoring once in nine appearances it is unclear where he will be plying his trade next term.
But despite the Black Cats' involvement in a relegation battle, and with Marseille challenging for the French title, the sometime France striker is desperate to stay at the Stadium of Light.
"Maybe it has been difficult for me," he said in the Daily Mail.
"It is not nice to worry about your future and to think about the uncertainty, and perhaps I am distracted but I have to deal with it.
"I want my future to be here but I'm still waiting to sign. I am waiting, I am patient.
"People were surprised when I left one of the best clubs in France and a team in the Champions League to join Sunderland, who were involved in a relegation fight last season. But I was not satisfied in Marseille. I want to score goals and you can't do that from the bench.
"That's me. I want to play and score goals and when I don't I'm not happy. I feel I'm not doing my job properly."
