Elber out for season

Lyon forward Giovane Elber could miss the rest of the season after he suffered a broken leg against Metz on Sunday. "Elber dislocated his right ankle and fractured his fibula. He will have to undergo surgery and doctors said that his season was probably over," a team spokesman said on Monday.

The 32-year-old Brazilian landed heavily on his ankle after attempting a volley in the 50th minute of Lyon's 1-1 at Metz ina Ligue 1 fixture.
Elber joined Olympique Lyon during the 2003 summer break after helping Bayern Munich win the 2001 Champions League and four German titles in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2003.
He scored 10 goals for Lyon last season and struck twice in the first three games of the new season.
