That's not quite the game that we were expecting, but Real Madrid come away with the three points they so desperately needed. That just about keeps them in contention at the top of La Liga, although their performance was far from convincing. Nevertheless, they claim the victory and move on.
FULL TIME: Real Madrid 3-2 Malaga
Is there one last chance left in this game for Malaga? They are just seconds away from suffering a defeat here, but that doesn't quite tell the whole story of their performance today.
Three minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
Real Madrid look a bit more secure in their lead now. Malaga seem to have been knocked out of their stride by the changes made by both sides over the past five minutes.
Benzema comes off to a standing ovation. The Frenchman has answered some of his critics this past week.

RONALDO GOAL DOESN'T STAND! Ronaldo tucks away from finish after a Real Madrid attack, but the flag is up for offside. Vazquez wasn't offside and neither was Ronaldo. Strange call.
It must be said that this is a pretty unorthodox system from Real Madrid and Zidane in the final few minutes of the game. He's playing with two full backs and a winger on the left side.
Malaga are indeed still pressing and probing. They are playing with 10 men at the moment following an injury to one of their players, but they are still imposing themselves.
Theo comes on for Kroos, which suggests that Zidane is attempting to shore up the left wing area.

There is still a feeling that Malaga could claim something from this game. Of course, Real Madrid have been in this sort of situation before this season and allowed points to slip.
WHAT A CHANCE! Rosales found himself with so much time and space inside the Real Madrid penalty area, but the Malaga right back can't keep his cool and drags his shot well wide.
There was a visible look of relief on the face of Ronaldo there. Imagine he hadn't scored that rebound. His La Liga scoring drought is over and that's an important goal for Real.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 3 (77 mins - Cristiano Ronaldo) Malaga 2. Ronaldo's initial penalty kick is saved by Malaga, but the Real Madrid number seven is quick enough to catch the rebound and finish at the second attempt.
