Ronaldo Zinedin earns Mexico call up – how could he not be brilliant?
When your name is a hybrid of two footballing legends, how could you not earn an international call up?
A Mexican couple were overjoyed when Ronaldo joined Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid after helping Brazil win the World Cup in 2002. So much so, they named their son Ronaldo Zinedin Hernandez.
The boy’s mother, Nancy Rodriguez, explained the decision to name him after two of football’s recent greats to MedioTiempo last year.
“It’s obvious to say they’re two huge stars of soccer,” Nancy said.
"My husband and I were big fans of Ronaldo and of Zidane, because of this when he was in the womb he moved a lot and I said to my husband that he was going to be like those two players.
At first, we didn’t agree, because my husband is more a fan of Ronaldo and I’m a bigger fan of Zinedine, so we decided to give him both names.
Now Hernandez has been called up to Mexico’s U15 training camp and he is surely destined for glory at the pinnacle of the sport. How could he not be?
