Diego Simeone believes Saul Niguez will stay at Altetico Madrid

Saul’s stock has risen significantly this week following his solo goal against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday, but Simeone is confident the midfielder will not be leaving the Vicente Calderon any time soon.

“If there’s something that makes me happy, it’s that we are in this situation, with young and new players who are enjoying a great present and an even better future but are committed to working hard daily, and the important thing is that they come to terms with the moment they’re in and seize it.

“Saul is in good form at the moment and the best thing for him is to isolate himself from all the good things being said about him.

“I’ve never liked excessive praise or criticism, it’s not good and I don’t consider it fair."
