10/11 Season: After narrowly missing out on automatic promotion by finishing third The Terriers fought their way through to the play-off final but lost 3-0 to Peterborough.

Strengths: Huddersfield have an excellent mix of experience and youth summed up by a strike-force of Alan Lee and Jordan Rhodes. In Lee Clark they also have an ambitious young manager who is not afraid to throw caution to the wind and chase victories.

Weaknesses: Having come so close to promotion last year and put in a stellar effort for the entire season it could be hard to reach those levels again, they have also made numerous changes to the squad which could further disrupt their rhythm and the losses of Pilkington and Peltier are significant.

Key Man: Top-scorer in both seasons he has played for the club since arriving from Ipswich in 2009, Jordan Rhodes is integral to the team's success.

Coach: Phil Brown

10/11 Season: The Lancastrians suffered relegation from The Championship as they finished 22nd, six points off safety.

Strengths: Manager Phil Brown has managed in the top two divisions and should be able to use his experience to navigate League One. In Iain Hume they may also have the best player in the division.

Weaknesses: With Billy Jones, Sean St Ledger and Callum Davidson all departing they are short of defenders, Brown will have to remedy this before the start of the season.

Key Man: Iain Hume was in fabulous form since arriving from Barnsley and if he can recreate anything like that form then he will be unstoppable in League One.

10/11 Season: A consistently good campaign from the Dons saw them command a play-off place for most of it and finish in fifth spot. They went down in the semi-finals to eventual winners Peterborough though.

Strengths: They have finished in the top half in all three seasons since their return to League One and the young club and manager are rapidly gaining in experience. They have kept a strong nucleus of the squad with the likes of Dean Lewington, Luke Chadwick and Sam Baldock and are building around them.

Weaknesses: They have a fairly small squad and will not be able to handle too many injuries this season unless they increase their numbers.

Key Man: Sam Baldock has ignored the overtures of Championship side Peterborough; committing to the Dons could see him improve and continue to score goals.

Coach: Gary Megson

10/11 Season: Many expected The Owls to bounce straight back up after relegation from The Championship but they had a very poor season indeed, finishing in 15th.

Strengths: Although not universally popular, Gary Megson is a successful and proficient manager, the club is now on a sound financial footing and they have some real quality for League One.

Weaknesses: There has been a long period of discontent at Hillsborough and it will only take a relatively short bad run of results for the fans and potentially owner Milan Mandaric to turn on Megson and create more unrest.

Key Man: Jermaine Johnson is probably Wednesday's most talented and dangerous player. He very nearly joined Nottingham Forest last year but is still in South Yorkshire and if he can find some consistency then he can be a real threat.

10/11 Season: A nightmare season for The Blades saw them finish second-bottom of The Championship with just 42 points, suffering relegation to the third tier of English football for the first time in 23 years.

Strengths: United's strength lies in their youth as while their first-team struggled their youngsters reached the FA Youth Cup final last season and only lost out to Manchester United in the final. If these players continue to progress then they could prosper in League One.

Weaknesses: Their first-team is an ageing, highly-paid group of players who Wilson is struggling to move on. They certainly have good experience but will cost the club Championship level wages which they cannot afford in the league below and the lasting quality of players like Rob Kozluk, Richard Cresswell and Chris Morgan is coming under question.

Key Man: If Ched Evans stays at the club in League One the onus will be on him to really perform. Ever since his pricey move from Manchester City three years ago he has not regularly found the back of the net, he would be expected to in this division.

10/11 Season: A mid-table eleventh place finish in the league but they did reach the final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy which they narrowly lost to Carlisle.

Strengths: Incoming manager Uwe Rosler has a wealth of contacts around Europe and has pulled off two impressive coups already bringing in Shaleum Logan from Manchester City and Niall McGinn on loan from Celtic.

Weaknesses: The Bees had the worst goal difference in the top half of League One last season and although Rosler might improve the goals for column they could struggle at the back this year.

Key Man: The Northern Ireland international Niall McGinn has been brought in from Celtic and has the potential to make a real impact in League One, he has pace and is not afraid to take a player on.

10/11 Season: The Iron continued to yo-yo between The Championship and League One as they were relegated, finishing 24th in the second tier. The disruption of losing manager Nigel Adkins to Southampton during the season did not help.

Strengths: With Alan Knill coming in towards the end of last season he has got a good idea of the state of his squad and how we wants them to play which will mean he can hit the ground running at the start of this campaign.

Weaknesses: Scunthorpe have lost a number of key players over the last couple of years, first Gary Hooper, Paul Hayes and Martyn Woolford departed last year and David Mirfin, Joe Murphy and Rob Jones have exited this summer. Losing six key players in little over a year would hurt any side.

Key Man: Michael O'Connor is a big influence in the middle of midfield and is attracting interest from Championship new boys Peterborough, Scunthorpe will be desperate to keep him so he can continue to pull the strings in the heart of their team.

10/11 Season: A hugely disappointing season saw The Addicks finish thirteenth after spending much of the first half of the season in the play-off spots. An 11-match winless run through February and March really cost them.

Strengths: The Londoners have a big squad that is full of quality; Bradley Wright-Phillips and Paul Hayes have experience at a higher level and should not struggle for goals this year.

Weaknesses: Chris Powell is a popular figure at The Valley but will not remain so for long unless he improves his managerial record. He won just six of his twenty-four games in charge after taking over in January and if that form continues he will be gone by Christmas. The major squad changes will be difficult to deal with as well.

Key Man: Bradley Wright-Phillips can be lethal in this division and was in the League One team of the season last year for his goal scoring exploits both with Charlton and Plymouth.

10/11 Season: A great season for The O's saw them miss out on a play-off spot by just a single place and point, they also enjoyed a draw with Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Strengths: Slade is a very experienced campaigner at this level and knows what it takes to succeed. The central midfield pairing of captain Stephen Dawson and Matthew Spring is very strong and will provide good service for new strike partnership Alex Revell and Jamie Cureton.

Weaknesses: They have lost their top scorer from last year Scott McGleish and veteran Cureton might be relied upon too much. The off-field distractions surrounding the Olympic Stadium may rumble on as well.

Key Man: Jimmy Smith has promised much for a while now and showed signs last season of fulfilling his potential at Brisbane Road, if he can continue to improve he can be one of the best midfielders in the division.

10/11 Season: After an impressive start they slipped down to twelfth place in the league, they did enjoy Wembley success though winning the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Strengths: The Cumbrians have some incredible experience within their squad and the leadership and nouse provided by the likes of Paul Thirwell, Graham Kavanagh and Peter Murphy will see them through some testing times.

Weaknesses: Since Gary Madine left for Sheffield Wednesday half way through last season they struggled a bit for goals, and failed to score in their last three games. Someone needs to step up or Abbott will have to bring in a striker.

Key Man: Frank Simek is a very accomplished defender at this level and an international with USA, now 26-years-old his performances will be crucial for Carlisle's success.

10/11 Season: The club's fantastic progress under Tisdale continued as they finished eighth, just one point off the play-offs, they also got to the Johnstone's Paint Trophy South final.

Strengths: In Daniel Nardiello they have a player who on his day can rip defences to shreds in League One. He could form a great partnership with new signing Guillem Bauza and fire The Grecians to success.

Weaknesses: Losing key trio Paul Jones, Matt Taylor and Jamie Cureton is bound to hurt the team, how they replace them could decide their success.

Key Man: Scott Golbourne has been a major part of the south-coast side's defence for two seasons now and is very confident and composed for a player of his age, he can set the tone for the rest of the defence.

10/11 Season: Rochdale enjoyed another hugely successful season under Keith Hill last year finishing ninth in League One after promotion, just three points off the play-offs.

Strengths: The club have made the biggest strides forwards for decades over the last two years. The promotion to League One in 2010 was their first for 41 years and a top-half finish signalled further improvement. They don't rely on a specific goal scorer and create goals from all over the pitch.

Weaknesses: The management team that brought them their recent success has departed for Championship side Barnsley and this is bound to cause major disruption. Steve Eyre is an enthusiastic young manager but his job is a tough one to pick up where Keith Hill and David Flitcroft left off.

Key Man: Captain Gary Jones scored an impressive 17 goals from midfield last season and is a real driving force for the team, they will need his leadership on the field with the change of management.

Ins: Stephen Darby (Liverpool - loan), Andrew Tutte (Man City), Ashley Grimes (Millwall), Neal Trotman (Preston), Simon Hackney (Colchester), Marc Twaddle (Falkirk).

Coach: Lee Bradbury

10/11 Season: Sixth place finish in the league which took them in to the play-offs but they crashed out to Huddersfield on penalties in the semi-finals.

Strengths: In Lee Bradbury they have a young and energetic manager who has continued the good work since the departure of Eddie Howe, alongside player/assistant-manager Steve Fletcher they form a hungry management duo.

Weaknesses: The Cherries have lost some key players as Danny Hollands and Rhoys Wiggins depart for Charlton, captain Jason Pearce has gone to Portsmouth and Anton Robinson leaves for Huddersfield. This leaves them having to deal with a big and disruptive shake-up of the first team.

Key man: Marc Pugh was a vital part of The Cherries' midfield in his debut season last year and with the departure of numerous key men around him it is critical he continues his good goal-scoring form from midfield, he grabbed himself 12 goals during the last campaign.

Coach: Paul Dickov

10/11 Season: An up-and-down season ended with more downs as The Latics finished in eighteenth position having only won thirteen games.

Strengths: Dickov has been trying to create an attractive brand of football at Boundary Park, it was not an easy first season for him but he has had chance to bed his ideas in and will bring in some more of his own players and his philosophy might just work out this year.

Weaknesses: They seem quite light up front. On paper Reuben Reid and Warren Feeney could become a very good partnership but Reid has not recreated his form his he left Rotherham in 2009 and Feeney has been labouring in recent seasons.

Key Man: Newly appointed captain Dean Furman is a crucial part of the midfield at Oldham and his stunning goal won Football League Goal of the Year last season. With the added responsibility of the armband he could continue to improve.

Coach: Martin Allen

10/11 Season: County narrowly avoided relegation last campaign finishing nineteenth and three points outside the bottom four. Allen's arrival ended a long losing streak just in time for them to avoid the drop.

Strengths: Despite finishing nineteenth last year, County conceded fewer goals than 11 of the clubs above them in League One and it was this good defensive record that kept them in the league.

Weaknesses: In comparison the Magpies scored fewer goals than anyone else in the division averaging exactly a goal a game. With the likes of Lee Hughes, Karl Hawley, Ben Burgess and Craig Westcarr in the squad they should not be struggling for goals and Allen will look to get more out of them this year.

Key Man: Lee Hughes is a striker of real quality and should be scoring for fun at this level.

10/11 Season: An inconsistent season saw The Us finish nine points off the play-offs in tenth after only winning one of their last five games.

Strengths: The likes of Kem Izzet, Anthony Wordsworth and the returning John-Joe O'Toole form a creative midfield that will make sure Colchester's strikers will be provided with chances.

Weaknesses: Owner Robbie Cowling has announced that the playing budget at the club will be cut and that may encourage some players to jump ship if the opportunity arises.

Key Man: Magnus Okuonghae has recovered from his ankle injury that has kept him out for eight months and the powerful defender's return will make a huge difference to the team.

Coach: John Sheridan

10/11 Season: The Spireites dominated League Two last season and ended up winning it by five points.

Strengths: Chesterfield lost just eight games last season proving very difficult to beat under Sheridan. Their experienced midfield of Mark Allott, Derek Niven, Danny Whitaker and Dwayne Mattis is the heartbeat of the team.

Weaknesses: The Derbyshire side have lost their top scorer from last season as 23-goal man Craig Davies has departed for Barnsley. Veteran striker Jack Lester is a cult hero at the club but if he can still cut it in League One is yet to be seen.

Key Man: Tommy Lee has been an excellent goalkeeper for Chesterfield in League Two and will have to be on form for them to prosper in the division above.

Coach: Terry Skiverton

10/11 Season: A mid-table position was all the Glovers could manage last season despite a strong finish to the season which saw them lose only two of their last twelve games.

Strengths: Yeovil are making very steady progress in League One having improved on their league position in each of the last four seasons. Each season they are becoming much more difficult to beat.

Weaknesses: They are another side with a paper thin squad and have lost some key players in the transfer market. Top-scorer Dean Bowditch has departed for MK Dons which will be a huge loss, as will Craig Alcock exiting to Peterborough. The Glovers also only find themselves with one registered keeper and that is goalkeeping coach Gareth Stewart.

Key Man: Paul Wotton is an experienced and influential man in the middle of the park and he needs to stay fit and lead from the front for his team.

10/11 Season: Finishing the League Two season in third place they won promotion with the one point difference from Shewsbury proving the difference.

Strengths: Conceding just 50 goals last year was the basis of their successful promotion campaign, the experience of players like goalkeeper Nikki Bull and centre-back Leon Johnson creating the bed-rock of the team.

Weaknesses: They have brought in a lot of players which might disrupt the momentum they had built up from their promotion. They might put a bit too much pressure on main striker Scott Rendell as they lack firepower from elsewhere on the pitch.

Key Man: Gareth Ainsworth may have celebrated his 38th birthday this year but he is still a quality player at this level and will provide the leadership and confidence necessary when he finds his team in difficult circumstances.

10/11 Season: The Saddlers spent the entire previous campaign in and around the relegation zone and just barely avoided the drop by a single place and point despite losing on the last day of the season.

Strengths: Walsall posses some good experience in the likes of Jimmy Walker, Jon Macken and Andy Butler which will be crucial in bringing through their young players which are being thrust in to the first team.

Weaknesses: They conceded an enormous 75 goals last season and will need to significantly reduce that number if they are to survive again this year, sorting out their defence will by Smith's priority.

Key Man: mat Sadler has been brought in from Watford charged with improving Walsall's horrific goal difference, he has good experience at higher levels and could make a big difference

10/11 Season: After finishing 11 points off automatic promotion in sixth, Stevenage came through the play-offs to beat Torquay in the final and progress to League One.

Strengths: The club has a huge amount of momentum behind it having gained two successive promotions coming straight up from the Conference, they have a great spirit in the camp and everyone has bought into the philosophy of manager Westley.

Weaknesses: As much as they are blessed with momentum, League One might just prove to be one step too far for the men from Broadhall Way. They will not be able to invest too strongly in the playing squad and they will be relying on hard-work rather than raw talent at this level.

Key Man: Centre-back Jon Ashton was the club's player of the season last year and was a vital part of the defence that conceded the fewest goals in League Two.

10/11 Season: A lacklustre season from the Super Whites saw them finish seventeenth, only a late burst of four wins and a draw from their last seven games kept them away from relegation.

Strengths: Tranmere's midfield is their strongest area of the pitch with Andy Robinson and John Welsh providing experience alongside the promising duo of Ash Taylor and Joss Labadie.

Weaknesses: Their squad is incredibly thin and the slightest queue in the treatment room would mean the first-team are down to the bare bones, they need more players but there is no money there for them.

Key Man: Enoch Showumni is the only player with any kind of goal scoring pedigree at the club and it is critical that he finds his shooting boots this season if Tranmere are to do well.

10/11 Season: An unpredictable season from Hartlepool saw them finish sixteenth in League One, an admirable achievement since they did not have a permanent manager throughout the campaign.

Strengths: The Pool seem to have a lot of belief in their manager and developed a strong sense of togetherness last season in the face of adversity.

Weaknesses: The signing of Nolberto Solano may provide a big name but it is an example of another player past his best at Victoria Park, the likes of Adam Boyd and Ritchie Humphreys have seen better days.

Key Man: Scott Flinders is a former England under-20 international, his career has not quite accelerated as expected but he will have to rediscover his form for a busy campaign.

10/11 Season: Despite the departure of Alan Knill with eight games to go of the season, Barker steered the team to six straight wins and a second place finish in League Two gaining them promotion.

Strengths: Having won six of their last eight games to clinch promotion they built up a winning mentality under Barker and will take that in to the new season and the new division.

Weaknesses: Loan stars of last season Nicky Asoje and Tom Lees have returned to their parent clubs, and key winger Kyle Bennett has left for Doncaster. Top scorer from last year Ryan Lowe has happily resolved a contract dispute.

Key Man: Ryan Lowe scored 27 goals in League Two last season and after a journeyman career has finally found a club that suits him, the challenge will be the step up to League One.
