Rodrigo Bentancur issued an update saying he is "all good" after being stretchered off during the first half of Tottenham’s Carabao Cup semi-final, first leg against Liverpool.
The Uruguayan midfielder attempted to attack a corner in the sixth minute but after failing to connect with a diving header, he remained sprawled out, face down, in the penalty box.
There were no players challenging Bentancur when he went to ground.
Players from both teams urgently called for medical staff to treat the Spurs player and, eight minutes later, he was carried from the field with Brennan Johnson replacing him as a substitute.
At half-time, Tottenham wrote on social media: "We can confirm Rodrigo is conscious, talking and will go to hospital for further checks."
Liverpool replied: "We're all thinking of you, Rodrigo. Speedy recovery."
And the midfielder offered an update on his health via Spurs' official social media channels on Thursday, informing supporters he is "all good", while expressing his gratitude for the messages of support.
Tottenham went on to win the game 1-0 with Lucas Bergvall's goal giving them the advantage ahead of the second leg at Anfield.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou provided an update on Bentancur after the match.
He told Sky Sports: "He is conscious. He was conscious when he got to the dressing room so obviously took him to hospital just to get checked over.
"Worrying and always a concern but from what I know at this stage, he’ll hopefully be ok."
Asked about his team's ability to keep focused after such a distressing incident, Postecoglou said: "It’s just our lot at the moment. We’re having to deal with adversity all the time.
"We started the game awfully well. Almost scored just before that moment and then obviously we lose a key player and in those kind of circumstances.
"This lot are nothing if not resilient, they just keep going and they did today."
Bentancur had only recently returned to action after serving a seven-match ban.
