SUPERB SORLOTH SCORES FOUR AS VILLARREAL ACHIEVE REMARKABLE COMEBACK AGAINST REAL MADRID
Alexander Sorloth produced a remarkable second-half hat-trick as Villarreal came from three goals down to draw 4-4 with Real Madrid in a La Liga thriller.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side looked to be in for another comfortable afternoon as a brace from Arda Guler and goals from Joselu and Lucas Vazquez saw them take a 4-1 lead at the break.
Sorloth’s goal at 2-0 down appeared to be nothing more than a consolation going into the second period but the Norweigian’s quick fire hat-trick in the space of eight minutes brought the hosts level.
The 28-year-old’s four goals saw him take the lead in the race for the Pichichi but having failed to claim all three points, Villarreal can no longer qualify for European football next season.
As for Los Blancos, Ancelotti won’t be too concerned by the result having wrapped up the league title and playing a significantly weakened line up ahead of their Uefa Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.

FULL TIME: VILLARREAL 4-4 REAL MADRID
The referee brings an end to this incredible contest. It was a remarkable second-half comeback by Villarreal led by Alexander Sorloth whose four goals salavaged a point for the hosts. It won't be enough to see them compete for European football on the final day but their fans were certainly entertained.
As for Madrid, their winning run of nine games comes to an end but Ancelotti will perhaps be pleased to see his players tested and to have some questions he had answered ahead of the important Champions League final on the horizon.

VILLARREAL HUNTING FOR WINNER
Sorloth looks to turn provider as he holds the ball up and plays a dangerous low ball across the six-yard box but it is out of reach of Guedes and out for a goal-kick,
Madrid look to break down the other end but concede a throw in and a foul in quick succession. There is now a sense of urgency but it may be too late. Some of the players look dead on their feet but are persevering for the crucial goal. It's all Villarreal now in the final minutes.

CLOSING STAGES
Camavinga does well to break the lines and win a foul as he is brought down. Guler looks to zip a ball out wide to Vazquez but over-hits this one.
Ceballos plays a promising looking ball towards Joselu but it is cut out by Villarreal. Will we see a winner?

SEVEN MINUTES OF ADDED TIME
Villarreal now formulate an attack as Traore brings the ball forward. The former Chelsea and Aston Villa man cuts in but his low strike to the near post is saved.
The fourth official reveals there will be seven minutes of added time. Marcelino picks up a yellow card for his protests against a decision.

DANGEROUS FREE-KICK FOR MADRID
Villarreal seem to be content sitting in despite their circumstances. A draw would not be enough to keep their European hopes alive.
Madrid have a free-kick that is excellently delivered by Guler. Villarreal win a free-kick for a foul as Rudiger puts the ball into the net a good few seconds after the whistle blows.
87'
YELLOW CARD
Madrid have a corner but Rodrygo fails to beat the first man. Martin times a tackle well to stifle a potential counter-attack before going in too eagerly and giving away a free-kick.
Ceballos then picks up a yellow card following the foul - perhaps for dissent. Bertrand Traore has also picked up a booking.

CHANCE FOR FIVE
The substitute Martin almost has a nightmare start as he is caught on the ball in a dangerous area. Villarreal win it back and work it to Capoue but he is outnumbered as he tries to strike home.
Guedes then whips in a delightful cross towards Sorloth who is millimetres away from getting his head onto it and adding a fifth. Agonising for the striker.
81'
SUBSTITUTION FOR EITHER SIDE
That run from Rodrygo was the final straw for Alberto Moreno who now limps off with cramp and his replaced by Ramon Terrets.
Luka Modric the receives a standing ovation from the whole stadium as he is replaced by youngster Mario Martin.

RODRYGO GOES CLOSE

Rodrygo then produces a mazy run into the box to breeze past a number of defenders but his low effort from a narrow angle is out wide for a corner.

VILLARREAL NEED A WINNER
Bailly does excellently to head clear a ball directed towards Joselu and the centre-back wins a foul in the process.
Villarreal need a win to keep their European hopes alive, so there will be gaps as they push for a winner in the final 20 minutes of this game. Real Betis - the side in seventh - a 2-0 down so there is still all to play for as far as the hosts are concerned.
73'
SUBSTITUTION FOR VILLARREAL
That was the last action of the game for Gerard Moreno who makes way for Etienne Capoue. The Spaniard's creativity has been crucial in this second-half comeback for the hosts.

Madrid look to settle the game down with a spell of possession but Modric is eventually dispossed by Coquelin and Villarreal win the free-kick as Nacho fouls Gerard Moreno.

SUBSTITUTION FOR MADRID
Rodrygo comes on for Brahim Diaz. A couple of smart assists for the Moroccan but he will be perhaps disappointed to not be more involved.

ANOTHER CHANCE FOR GULER
Modric plays in Guler but as he cuts in, he does so into traffic and his tackled. To rub salt in the wounds Ceballos' subsequent effort is rifled into the youngster who was still on the ground from the previous challenge.
Gerard Moreno looks to create another but Rudiger heads clear his ball round the corner.
63'
GULER GOES CLOSE TO HAT-TRICK
Guler features for the first time in this half and goes very close. The Turkish youngster cuts in and whistles a curling effort just over the top-left corner.
This performance has been symptomatic of Villarreal's campaign - goals galore at either end. Jude Bellingham must be itching to get on to claw some goals back in the golden boot race.
60'
DOUBLE SUBSTITUTION FOR MADRID
Madrid look to assert some sort of dominance on the game but Garcia's cross balloons behind for a goal-kick.
Ancelotti has seen enough and brings on Nacho and Eduardo Camavinga for Eder Militao and Federico Valverde. Militao has had a torrid time in this second period and will probably be relieved to be withdrawn.
