Senna snubs Swansea

The Brazilian-born anchorman, who won Euro 2008 with his adopted homeland, was out of contract at El Madrigal and had been in talks to move to the Welsh side after their play-off win over Reading took them into the top flight.

But Senna, 34, has instead opted to sign a one-year deal with the Yellow Submarine, and is understood to have called Swans boss Brendan Rodgers personally to inform him of the decision.

"I decided to accept the proposal of the Villarreal family and I thank (club president Fernando) Roig for his confidence," Senna tweeted.

"I am very happy to continue at Villarreal."
