Zaragoza sign Matuzalem

Matuzalem, 27, joins Zaragoza on a three-year deal ahead of their UEFA Cup participation next season. The fee is understood to be in excess of a 12 million bid Shakhtar earlier rejected.

The goalscoring midfielder had spent three years in the Ukraine after joining from then-Serie A Brescia in 2004 in a national record 13 million euro deal.

He had previously played in Italy for Piacenza and Napoli, starting his career in his native Brazil at Vitoria Bahia.

Matuzalem is the seventh major signing of Zaragoza's summer following the arrivals of Roberto Ayala, Ricardo Oliveira, Javier Paredes, Gabriel Fernandez, Gustavo Nery and Francisco Pavon.
