Tacchinardi extends stay

Italian midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi has extended his loan deal with Villarreal until the end of next season, the club said on Thursday. The 30-year-old joined Villarreal on a one-year loan from Juventus last July after 11 seasons with the Serie A side.

After a difficult start at Villarreal the former international has earned himself a place in the centre of midfield alongside Marcos Senna and has played an important part in their run to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Tacchinardi was booked during the 1-0 defeat by Arsenal on Wednesday and will miss next week's second leg.
