Eto'o scored in the opening minute of the second-half and Barcelona never looked back. He rose majestically to head home Ronaldinho's corner and Osasuna, currently lying second in La Liga, were never able to recover.
The goal allowed Barcelona's stars to relax, and the second was never going to be long in coming. Six minutes later, Silvinho left the Osasuna defence trailing in his wake before putting a good cross into the box. The keeper was unable to hold onto the ball and Eto'o was there to poke home his second of the night and leave his team cruising.
For the rest of the game Barcelona were able to bring out their best football in a direct contrast to a relatively quite first-half, which saw the visitors frustrate their hosts and show how they had climbed to an improbable second place in the league.
Two minutes from time Ludivic Guily stole in to poke home a rebound from Ronaldinho's back, and complete the rout.
In truth, but for some questionable decisions from the referee, Barcelona could have scored more, having had two penalty appeals turned down with both Leo Messi and Mark van Bommel appearing to be felled in the Osasuna box.
SEVILLA MOVE UP LIGA
Goals from Adriano and Enzo Maresca steered Sevilla to a 2-0 home win over struggling Alaves.
The victory moved Sevilla up to sixth in the table with 12 points while Alaves remained 18th on six points.
The opening goal came when David Castedo's low cross from the left in the 27th minute was back-heeled into Adriano's path by Italian midfielder Maresca and the Brazilian midfielder produced a calm finish.
Maresca scored from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute after Argentine forward Javier Saviola was brought down by Alaves keeper Franco Costanzo.
