Jones gifts Uruguay win

An embarrassing blunder by debutant Australia goalkeeper Brad Jones handed Uruguay a 2-1 victory in a lively friendly international on Saturday.
Striker Alvaro Recoba headed the ball into an empty net 13 minutes from time, earning Uruguay a small measure of revenge for their dramatic defeat on penalties by the Socceroos in a World Cup playoff match at the Olympic Stadium in 2005.
Australia opened the scoring after six minutes through midfielder Mile Sterjovski. Striker Diego Forlan equalised for the visitors just before halftime, tapping in a pinpoint cross from Recoba.
The game appeared to be heading for a draw until Jones, deputising for first-choice Mark Schwarzer in an inexperienced Australia team, flapped wildly at a high cross and Recoba stooped to head the ball into the net from six metres.
