Tottenham striker Harry Kane is the sole English representative on the 55-man Fifpro World XI shortlist.

The 24-year-old is joined by 12 colleagues from the Premier League, with the list again dominated by the usual crowd from Real Madrid (12 nominees) and Barcelona (eight nominees).
Manchester United have six representatives as Romelu Lukaku, David de Gea, Antonio Valencia, Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Nemanja Matic get a nod, although the latter was nominated for his role in Chelsea’s title triumph last season.
Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kante and David Luiz, Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil and Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho complete the Premier League contingent. Surprisingly, that means no representation for Manchester City’s stellar squad.
Cristiano Ronaldo – widely tipped to claim the individual award at the ceremony in London – is joined by rival Lionel Messi, with the duo rarely missing out in compilation XIs over the past decade.
La Liga crushes its European rivals with 23 nominations, with the Bundesliga a distant third on seven. Ligue 1 has six – including PSG’s squabbling duo Neymar and Edinson Cavani, plus hotshot Kylian Mbappe – while Serie A earns just three. Besiktas defender Pepe, a recent arrival from Real Madrid, and former Bayern Munich defender Philippe Lahm, now retired, complete the shortlist.
About 25,000 professional footballers took part in the poll, which this year covers performances by players from August to June, aligned with the majority of club competitions. Previous editions covered player performances in a calendar year.
The final XI will be revealed at the Best FIFA Football Awards on October 23.
