Rangers grab Hemdani

Rangers have signed former Olympique Marseille captain Brahim Hemdani, the Scottish champions said on Tuesday. The 27-year-old Frenchman, who can play in midfield or central defence, was out of contract at Marseille after joining them from Strasbourg in 2001 and has signed a four-year deal.

Rangers chairman David Murray told the club's website: "We have had a huge fight from Bayer Leverkusen and Real Betis over the weekend, but Brahim wants to be part of our club and we are delighted."
Murray said Rangers manager Alex McLeish had been trailing Hemdani since watching his performance in Marseille's UEFA Cup semi-final triumph over Newcastle United in 2004.
