COMFORTABLE FOREST VICTORY STRENGTHENS EUROPA LEAGUE PLAY-OFF PLACE CHANCES
Nottingham Forest secured a comfortable 3-0 win against Malmo FF at the City Ground, strengthening their chances of a UEFA Europa League play-off place.
Captain Ryan Yates opened the scoring in the first half after latching on to a cut back by Nikola Milenkovic and smashing his effort past Melker Ellborg.
Arnaud Kalimuendo added a second just before half-time after following up on Yates' header, which was well saved, and scoring a tap in from close range. It was the striker's first goal since joining for £26 million in the summer.
Milenkovic scored the third just before the hour mark, profiting after Yates had his shot deflected - the goalscoring trio each notching for the first time this season.
In a repeat of the 1979 European Cup final, when Forest won their first European trophy, Sean Dyche's side were in control throughout the game and were never really tested by the Swedish side.
Tonight's victory secured three wins on the bounce in all competitions for Forest, as well as back-to-back 3-0 triumphs after the weekend's win at Liverpool.
Forest climb into 16th place in the league phase table and into the play-off positions, with eight points from their opening five games. Forest are now just two points away from a top-eight place and automatic qualification for the last 16.
Meanwhile, Malmo sit third from bottom and remain winless so far in the competition.
Next up for Forest is a clash at the City Ground against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

THREE IN A ROW FOR FOREST

RYAN YATES INTERVIEW
Forest captain Ryan Yates speaking to TNT Sports: "We knew it was a really nice occasion for the club, nice bit of build-up. It's obviously a really nice gesture, but we had a job to do, we knew if we performed to what we know we can, we knew we'd get the result. Job done and on to the next.
On his goal: "I think we were putting a lot of balls in the box. I just thought I need to stay on the edge of the box, one's going to drop for me, and luckily it did today.
On Kalimuendo's goal: "I'm gutted because I should have scored my second! Honestly, we're really buzzing for him. The hard work he's putting in for the team, the unselfish runs, a lot of unsung heroes in this team, and he's certainly one of them. He deserves that.
"These nights at the City Ground, we have to cherish them in Europe. It's so special, and they add something different. It's a pleasure to be part of."
