Ruben Amorim says he "owes" Manchester United fans a trophy ahead of taking on Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday.
United face Spurs in Bilbao – live on TNT Sports and discovery+ – with the winners claiming the trophy and a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League, despite their respective domestic struggles.
Amorim spoke about the need to repay the long-suffering Red Devils supporters for their unwavering backing in what has been a hugely difficult campaign.
He told TNT Sports: "The feeling we take if we win this game is going to be so important for what we want to build in the club, and they [the fans] deserve it.
"If there are some fans that deserve a title this season, it's Manchester United fans. So, we'll hope to win something for them."
When pressed if United owe their fans silverware, the United manager replied: "I think so, that is a clear feeling.
"It's not just me, it's everybody, all the players, all the staff. We owe a lot of things this season to our fans."

The Portuguese senses how much a victory would mean to the fans, and spoke about the sense of responsibility which everyone at the club is feeling ahead of the season-defining match.
"We can say that it is one more game, one more final, but when you are here, you feel what the fans have been saying during the week," he added.
"When you get your coffee or you get your kids and the fans say, 'Let's go win the final', it's different, and it would mean the world for us."
This will be United’s second visit to San Mames after dispatching Athletic Club with a 3-0 victory in the semi-final first leg, while having fellow Premier League opposition in the final adds to an element of familiarity.
"It's the second time, so we know the stadium, but it's a different feeling," Amorim explained.
"The environment is different, you feel the excitement. Everybody is here expecting a big game with two massive clubs struggling this season, so it's going to be fun."
