Sevilla take on Roma in the final of the Europa League, with the match taking place on Wednesday, May 31, at the Puskas Stadium in Budapest. Sevilla are the most successful club in the competition and will look to add a record seventh trophy to their collection after a poor domestic season. Roma are hoping to win back-to-back European competitions after last season's Conference League triumph.

‘We want to play an extraordinary match to reach the final’ - Mourinho

The Europa League final is set, with Sevilla set to take on Roma in Budapest on Wednesday.
Sevilla, the most successful team in Europa League history, find themselves in contention for a remarkable seventh title after a challenging season.
Led by their third manager of the campaign, Jose Luis Mendilibar, the Spanish side has battled relegation fears domestically while also eliminating formidable opponents Manchester United and Juventus on their path to the final.
Roma have also enjoyed a difficult domestic campaign, failing to finish in the top four after a poor end to the season, but they have also found solace in Thursday night European encounters.
After guiding his team to victory in the inaugural Europa Conference League last season, the renowned Jose Mourinho now aims to become the first manager to clinch this coveted title with three different clubs, following his previous triumphs with Porto in 2002/03 and Manchester United in 2016/17.

History on the line

With six Europa League titles to their name, Sevilla have established themselves as specialists in the competition, outshining closest pursuers Inter Milan, Liverpool, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid.
Their impressive track record includes winning all six titles in the 21st century, with their most recent triumph in the 2019/20 season against Inter in a thrilling grand final.
Despite a lacklustre performance in La Liga this season - Mendilibar's team sit 11th with one game to go - Sevilla have demonstrated resilience since exiting the Champions League group stage.
"Our aim was to do our best in this competition and everything is going well; we have eliminated two great teams in Manchester United and Juve and we will present ourselves in Budapest against another great team and another great coach. People did not expect we would do something like this and we have achieved it," Mendilibar said.

Roma look to go back-to-back

For Roma, a victory in this final would mark their second piece of European silverware.
Unlike their Spanish opponents, Roma's journey in Europe this season began in the Europa League. Although they finished as runners-up in Group C behind Real Betis, their strong finish secured them a spot in the knockout stages.
Along the way, the Giallorossi navigated past challenges including Salzburg, Real Sociedad, Feyenoord, and Bayer Leverkusen, even without scoring an away goal.
Ahead of the clash, Mourinho said: "My concern was getting to the final. Sevilla are a very strong team and have great experience."
