Spain 2-1 France - Euro 2024 semi-final result as Lamine Yamal makes history to send Spain to final

On a historic night for Spain, Luis de la Fuente has led the nation to a place in the final at a major tournament for the first time since 2012, helped by some teenage excellence.

Lamine Yamal made history as Spain booked their place in the Euro 2024 final following a 2-1 win over France in Munich on Tuesday.

Didier Deschamps’ side took the early lead when Randal Kolo Muani headed in Kylian Mbappe’s clipped cross to score France’s first goal from open play after more than nine hours of football in Germany.

In a stunning turnaround, 16-year-old Yamal became the youngest goalscorer in Euros history when he curled an emphatic effort into the top left-hand corner from 25 yards out.

Four minutes later, Dani Olmo thundered an effort towards the France goal which beat Mike Maignan and could not be stopped by Jules Kounde, who turned the ball into the net. After some controversy, Olmo was later officially awarded the goal which made him the tournament’s joint-leading goalscorer with three.

France had the best of the chances in the second half, as Theo Hernandez and Mbappe both blasted shots over the bar from inside the box.

Spain held on to reach their fifth Euros final, and will play either England or the Netherlands - who face off in the second semi-final on Wednesday - in Sunday's final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Spain return to the final of the European Championships for the first time since 2012! They've beaten France in Munich thanks to a stunner from teenage sensation Yamal.

He meets Barcola's cross and battles with Cucurella in the air but the forward heads it over the bar. He wants a corner, but he's not going to get one - that should be that!

And to a standing ovation! What a performance from the 16-year-old. He'll be replaced by Ferran Torres who will see out the closing stages.

Williams is also coming off for Martin Zubimendi.

The assistant referee has indicated a further five minutes of added time before the full-time whistle.

Spain are nearly there!

A tactical foul from the youngster to prevent a France counter-attack earns him a spot in Slavko Vincic's notebook.

He makes a strong, late challenge on Cucurella and gets a booking. The entire Spain bench were on their feet screaming for the midfielder to be punished!

Cucurella shakes it off.

Once again Mbappe drives into the box from the left, cuts inside Vivian onto his right foot and thunders a shot over the bar!

Another big, big opportunity for France goes begging...

Laporte is receiving treatment but considering the circumstances, will surely play on.

Laporte is down with a bloody nose. He runs into Giroud, it's accidental but clearly a sore one for the former Manchetser City man.

The teenager drives forward and pulls the trigger from outside the box - looking to replicate the stunner he scored in the first-half - but this time he sends his effort just wide of the post.

37-year-old striker Olivier Giroud is on.

Morata and Olmo will be replaced by the two Mikel's; Merino and Oyarzabel.

Griezmann whips in a deep cross which Dembele keeps in play at the back post, but there is no one to meet it in the six-yard box. With the ball seemingly under control, Ruiz makes a mistake and loses possession as the ball falls to Hernandez on the edge of the box and with a clear shot at goal, blasts his effort over the bar!

Will France get a better chance than that with 15 minutes to play?

As things stand, they're heading for Sunday's final in Berlin. They have a vital lead to hold on to!

In his first real involvement, PSG winger Barcola shows a great turn of pace to burst past Vivian on the left and drive into the box before his cross is dealt with by the Spanish defence.

Mbappe brings the ball down excellently and slips the ball to Hernandez who is making an overlapping run, but the ball from Mbappe is just too strong as it rolls out of play. It was a well-thought-out move.

The defender gets on the end of a cross but completely fluffs his free header which goes wide.

N'Golo Kante, Randal Muani and Rabiot are replaced by Greizmann, Bradley Barcola and Eduardo Camavinga

France are all-out attack!
