When is the Euro 2024 final? Who will England face in the Euro 2024 final?

By hook or by crook, England have reached the Euro 2024 final courtesy of a 2-1 win over the Netherlands in Dortmund. Despite being unconvincing for large parts of this tournament, Gareth Southgate's side are one win away from ending a 58-year wait for a major senior men's trophy. Standing in their way is a formidable Spain side that has reached the final in more of a swashbuckling fashion.

Southgate: Huge task to play best team in Euro 2024 with day less to prepare

Euro 2024 is now reaching its exciting crescendo, with only two teams left in the battle to win the Henri Delaunay Trophy.
England have a date with Spain in Berlin this Sunday to decide who reigns supreme in Europe, with Three Lions supporters hoping that their long wait for major men's tournament success comes to an end.
That well-documented success came at the 1966 World Cup, with a Euros triumph still proving elusive for England's men's team.
Meanwhile, Spain boast a far greater pedigree on the European international stage and have a total of three Euros crowns.
La Roja memorably retained the trophy in 2012, which bookended an astonishing four-year period of success that included triumphs at Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup.
Southgate's men will hope that history counts for little in their second consecutive appearance at a Euros final, as they aim to exorcise the demons from their near-miss at Euro 2020, when they were beaten by Italy on penalties.

When is the Euro 2024 final?

The Euro 2024 final takes place on Sunday, July 14 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, kick-off 8pm UK time.

What was Spain's route to the final?

Spain cruised the group stage of Euro 2024, and were the only team to progress with a 100 per cent record.
They began with a 3-0 victory over 2022 World Cup semi-finalists Croatia, ahead of 1-0 wins over Italy and Albania to finish top of Group B.
La Roja then dispatched Georgia with relative ease in the round of 16, after recovering from a goal down to claim a comfortable 4-1 win.
A Robin Le Normand own goal gave Willy Sagnol's side hope of an incredible upset, before Luis de la Fuente's side hit back through strikes from Dani Olmo, Nico Williams, Fabian Ruiz and Rodri.
Spain booked their place in the semi-finals with a 2-1 extra-time victory over Germany.
Dani Olmo's strike looked to be enough to seal La Roja a place in the last four until an 89th-minute strike from Floran Wirtz kept the hosts' hopes alive.
Penalties were looming large until Mikel Merino's 119th-minute header broke German hearts.
Lamine Yamal claimed the headlines in a semi-final victory over France, as his stunning long-range strike ensured Spain recovered from a goal down to win 2-1 - this time in 90 minutes.
Randal Kolo Muani had initially headed Les Bleus in front, before Yamal and then Olmo sealed their progress.

What was England's route to the final?

It would be fair to say that England's path to the final has not been anywhere near as smooth.
The Three Lions began with a laboured 1-0 win over Serbia, ahead of 1-1 and 0-0 draws with Denmark and Slovenia respectively.
Still, that was enough to top Group C and set up a round of 16 clash with Slovakia.
Southgate's side were on the brink of a humiliating exit until Jude Bellingham's stunning acrobatic stoppage-time strike and Harry Kane's extra-time header secured a 2-1 win and a place in the quarter-finals.
They ensured their progress into the semi-finals with a 5-3 shootout success of their own against Switzerland.
Breel Embolo prodded the Swiss in front with a close-range finish, before Bukayo Saka's superb solo effort restored parity late on.
Extra time came and went, before Manchester City's Manuel Akanji missed in the shoot-out and Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the decisive penalty.
Then came the semi-final against the Netherlands, and despite Xavi Simons putting the Dutch in front, England hit back through Kane's penalty and a stunner from Ollie Watkins to book a place in Sunday's final.
