Bayern swoop for Liverpool duo Gakpo and Diaz

Bayern Munich’s pursuit of more firepower this summer has seen them turn their attention to Anfield.
According to German football expert Christian Falk, the Bundesliga giants are interested in signing both Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz from Premier League champions Liverpool.
"[Bayern sporting director] Max Eberl should already be looking for alternative candidates for the wing," Falk told CaughtOffside.
"Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, for example, could be back on the radar. The player is said to be a personal favourite of Eberl.
"After initial talks with the Gakpo side, there has been no contact with the agents recently. That could now quickly change again.
"[Gakpo's] team-mate Luis Diaz also remains a candidate."

Barca ready to pay Williams release despite Athletic complaint

Joan Laporta has dismissed claims about Barcelona’s ability to sign Nico Williams, saying they are ready to meet the player’s release clause.
Athletic Club, who are reluctant to allow the winger to leave for their rivals, raised concerns with La Liga in an official meeting about whether Barca would comply with financial fair play rules should a deal go ahead.
Barcelona have previously had trouble when it comes to buying and registering players, leading to restrictions in their transfer activity.
However, the Barca president has today responded by saying the club’s pursuit of Williams, who has a £49.5 million (€58m) release clause, is within their capabilities.
"If there is an opportunity in the market that requires paying a release clause, Barcelona is ready to do what is necessary," he told reporters.
"We are complying with all the requirements demanded by La Liga and the fair play rules in order to take advantage of market opportunities," he added.

Giroud poised to make Lille move

Olivier Giroud looks set to sign for Lille on a free transfer after negotiating with current club Los Angeles FC to terminate his contract. According to L’Equipe, the move is now "a given".
Giroud, 38, has six months left on his deal with the MLS side but has come to an agreement to end the deal early in order to return to France.
France’s all-time top goalscorer, who featured for LAFC at the FIFA Club World Cup, will play one last time for the club against Vancouver Whitecaps before the move.
Giroud last played in his homeland for Montpellier. Then came transfers to Arsenal, Chelsea and AC Milan, before a move to Los Angeles in 2024.

Juve pushing for Luiz sale to Leeds

Juventus are set to say farewell to Douglas Luiz after just one season in Turin.
The Brazilian, who moved to Serie A from Aston Villa in the summer of 2024, has endured a "terrible" season, according to Calciomercato.
The publication also reports that the 27-year-old is not in new manager Igor Tudor’s plans, with the club said to have opened talks over a move to Leeds United.
Juve reportedly hope to try and shift the player by June 30 for accounting purposes.
