Raheem Sterling misses out as Eddue Nketiah joins Jordan Henderson, Harry Maguire in England squad

Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson were the two most controversial inclusions in Gareth Southgate's England squad ahead of the September intenationals against Ukraine and Scotland. Maguire is firmly out of favour at Manchester United and was being widely linked with a move away, but now looks set to stay at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Henderson is in despite his move to Saudi Arabia.

Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson have been included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine and the international friendly with Scotland.
Maguire has been named in Southgate’s 26-man squad despite not playing a single minute of football for Manchester United this season.
Former Liverpool captain Henderson has also earned a call-up despite his recent move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq.
Elsewhere, there are first senior call-ups for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah and Chelsea defender Levi Colwill.
Nketiah has enjoyed a fine start to the season for Mikel Arteta’s side after scoring twice in three Premier League appearances, while Colwill was part of the squad that won the Under-21 European Championships last month.
Brighton captain Lewis Dunk has retained his place after being forced to withdraw from the squad for the two qualifiers against North Macedonia and Malta in June, while there is also a recall for AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori.
Meanwhile, arguably the most high-profile omission is Raheem Sterling, despite a renaissance in the 28-year-old’s form after scoring two goals in Chelsea’s first three Premier League games.
The Three Lions squad will assemble at St. George's Park on September 4 ahead of the match against Ukraine in Wroclaw, Poland on September 9, kick-off 17:00 UK time.
Southgate's side then take on Scotland in a friendly to be played at Hampden Park in Glasgow on September 12, kick-off 19:45.
