Football news - Messi and Ronaldo to watch Copa Libertadores River-Boca final together – reports
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will sit side by side to watch the Copa Libertadores final second leg between River Plate and Boca Juniors at the Bernabeu, according to reports in Spain.
Although River expressed their dismay at the second leg being held at Real Madrid’s stadium, the match is set to go ahead on Sunday.
And according to AS, Messi and Ronaldo are due to attend the winner-takes-all tie, with Real president Florentino Perez wanting them to sit together in his presidential box.
Ronaldo is yet to return to the Bernabeu since leaving Real for Juventus in the summer, and the report claims he will head to Spain after his match against Inter Milan on Friday.
Messi, meanwhile, is in action for Barcelona against city rivals Espanyol on Saturday, and is expected to travel to Madrid on the day of the game.
The long-awaited second leg sees arguably football’s biggest rivalry come to Europe after the match was postponed following an attack on Boca’s team bus before kick-off.
Boca and River drew the first leg 2-2 on November 11.
