The 21-year-old has made 19 starts since turning professional in 2006 having come through the Premier League side's youth system.
The move is subject to approval from the Football League, with Little expected to go straight into Posh's squad to face Coventry on Saturday should it go through.
"I am an attacking right-back," Little told the club's website. "I like to get forward and I can also play at centre-back, so we will see where the gaffer (Jim Gannon) wants to play me.
"I can't wait to get started, I know the position the team are in the table but there are plenty of points to play for."
Earlier in the day, Posh announced that midfielder Jake Livermore had been recalled from his loan by parent club Tottenham.
The 20-year-old joined Posh in January and had made nine appearances for the club, scoring once in the 2-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.
However, with Spurs struggling in midfield with a host of injuries the Premier League side have exercised their option to recall Livermore immediately.
