Chelsea's return to the UEFA Champions League begins with a difficult trip to Germany to face Bayern Munich.
The Blues won the UEFA Conference League last season but now have the more challenging task of competing in Europe's premier competition again.
Enzo Maresca's side have made a promising start to the new campaign, having won the revamped FIFA Club World Cup in the United States during the summer.
And their progress will be tested by Bayern, who will have aspirations of European glory under Vincent Kompany, after losing to eventual finalists Internazionale in the quarter-finals last season.
Bayern have added to their attacking options with the signing of former Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, while striker Nicolas Jackson could play against his parent club having joined Bayern on loan from Chelsea.
England captain Harry Kane remains the main man up front for the Bundesliga champions, though.
Chelsea, meanwhile, will hope marquee signing Joao Pedro continues his encouraging start at the other end of the pitch.

Bayern Munich v Chelsea will take place on Wednesday, September 17, at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
