Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique could not help but jokingly celebrate "the league of farmers" after beating four Premier League sides to reach the UEFA Champions League final.
Enrique’s side defeated Arsenal 2-1 in Paris on Wednesday night to seal a 3-1 aggregate victory and earn a spot in the Munich final against Italian champions Internazionale at the end of the month.
The swashbuckling Parisians have faced all four of the English representatives in the competition and beaten them all, defeating Manchester City in the league phase before eliminating Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal in the last three knock-out rounds.
The Spanish coach could not help but make a light-hearted jibe at the fans who mock Ligue 1 as a ‘farmers league’ when speaking to TNT Sports after the game.
Asked about his record against English opposition, Enrique said: "The league of farmers, no? We are the league of farmers!"
"It’s nice. Now we are enjoying not only the results but also the compliments of everybody speaking about our team," he added.

"We are a young team but the mentality and character, and also how we play football, I think is nice. I also have to congratulate my players because they are great."
PSG have already wrapped up the Ligue 1 title and are in contention for a historic treble with a Coupe de France final against Reims still to come.

To achieve that landmark, they will have to do something the club has never done before by lifting European football’s biggest prize.
Standing in their way are three-time European champions Inter, who finished runners-up to Manchester City two years ago and defeated Barcelona 7-6 in an all-time classic to reach the final.

"It’s going to be tough, but I think they have the same feeling. It’s going to be an interesting final, very difficult for both teams, but it’s a special moment for all of us, for them also," Enrique said.
"It is their second final in three years, which means they are a great team, but we have time to analyse Inter. Now it’s time to celebrate, to enjoy and have some rest."
PSG have only once made it to the Champions League final before, when they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in 2019/20.
"It means a lot," Enrique said on reaching the final for a second time.
"Everybody was dreaming of reaching the Champions League final. Our first goal when we arrived in Paris was to make history and we’re on the right path."
