Arne Slot 'stepped into Jurgen Klopp's shoes as if they were his own velvet slippers' with red-hot Liverpool form

Arne Slot has taken to life at Anfield like a duck to water, helping Liverpool to top spot in the UEFA Champions League and Premier League. TNT Sports expert James Horncastle believes the Dutchman has avoided making the same mistakes as David Moyes and Unai Emery, who both replaced iconic managers in England but were unable to step out of their shadow.

James Horncastle believes Arne Slot has avoided following in the footsteps of David Moyes and Unai Emery, with his excellent start at Liverpool.
The Reds are currently top of the Premier League and are also leading the way in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League table beating last season's Bundesliga champions, Bayer Leverkusen, 4-0.
Moyes was unable to maintain Sir Alex Ferguson's success having succeeded the Scot at Manchester United, while Emery struggled to step out of Arsene Wenger's shadow at Arsenal.
Horncastle has hailed Slot, having bucked the trend and made a great start to life at Anfield in the wake of Jurgen Klopp's exit.
"I think it is great to see Arne Slot come into a club that is clearly really well run, but at the same time, that does not mean it is an easy job," he said.
"We have seen David Moyes replace Sir Alex Ferguson, a nightmare. Unai Emery, we all know how good a manager he is, but he came in at Arsenal, and it did not work out for him.
"Yet Slot has just stepped into Klopp's shoes as if they were his own velvet slippers."
AC Milan, who Liverpool defeated 3-1 away from home earlier this season, recorded an impressive 3-1 win over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Horncastle insists that Liverpool are making excellent teams look average in this season's Champions League.
"If you just focus on the Champions League, they have gone to the San Siro, they play AC Milan," he added. "They go behind, come back, wipe the floor with them.

"Milan have gone to the Santiago Bernabeu tonight and beaten Real Madrid tonight. They [Milan] put three past Real Madrid and they made that look easy.
"Liverpool have made a Bayer Leverkusen side that went unbeaten in the Bundesliga all of last year look average."
