Borussia Dortmund 2-3 Barcelona - Uefa Champions League result as Hansi Flick's side go second with entertaining win

Ferran Torres bagged a brace from the bench as Barcelona went second in the Uefa Champions League standings with an entertaining 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund.

After a tentative opening period from either side, the game burst into life eight minutes after the interval as Barcelona captain Raphinha opened the scoring with a ruthless finish inside the area.

The hosts were quickly level as Guirassy converted from the spot after being nudged to the ground by young defender Cubarsi.

Just four minutes after coming on, Torres restored the lead for Hansi Flick's men as he converted from close range after Kobel parried the effort of fellow substitute Fermin Lopez.

Nuri Sahin's men were back on level terms three minutes later as Dortmund beat the visitors' offside trap and Pascal Gross squared the ball round the keeper for Guirassy to double his tally.

It was the Spanish side who had the last laugh as Torres' clinical finish rounded off a lightning counter-attack following a misplaced pass from Gross.

Barcelona move up to second with the victory, two points clear of the host of teams on 13 points in the rest of the automatic qualification spots.

Dortmund remain just one place outside of the top eight on 12 points and will look for positive results in their remaining ties with Bologna and Shakhtar Dontesk to avoid the play-offs.

Borussia Dortmund push for another equaliser but Schlotterbeck misses a golden chance with the header. It wouldn't have counted though, he was marginally offside when the ball came in.

The referee blows whistle and Barcelona hang on to a crucial victory which takes them up to second and two points clear of the several teams on 13 points.

It's going to be backs against the wall here for Barcelona as they look to hang on to a lead which would take them into second, but crucially two points clear of third.

Yamal makes way for Victor for these final stages. There will be four minutes added on here.

Following Dortmund's corner, Gross gives it away with a sloppy pass and Barcelona can break through Lopez.

He finds Yamal to his right and the winger slips Torres into the right of the box. His first touch is poor but his second is brilliant as he rifles it into the bottom left corner.

What a second half!

Gittens and Bensebaini combine down Dortmund's left to win the corner. Gross' delivery is put right on top of Pena who punches away well.

The ball drops to Gross on the edge of the area but his effort, which looked threatening, is blocked by his own man Guirassy, who really had time to get out the way of it.

The German is having a real impact on this game. He is picking up some dangerous positions on this left-hand side to utilise his crossing ability.

After squandering a golden chance just moments before, Guirassy has his second of the match to level proceedings.

As Barcelona look to play the offside trap, Gross is played through on goal by Couto. As Pena comes flying out of his box, the German gets there first to square it for Guirassy who has an empty net to tap home into.

Gittens digs out a cross from the left that finds the head of Guirassy, who has a free header from a few yards out, but it goes way over. Unforgivable from the forward who have doubled his tally.

Yamal plays a nice ball for the underlapping Kounde whose cross from the right is volleyed on target with a hooked effort by Lopez. Kobel saves but parries to the feet of Torres who taps home from a matter of yards out.

It's a triple change for the visitors with Lewandowski, Raphinha and Olmo making way for Torres, Lopez and de Jong. Flick clearly looking to protect his key men here.

Meanwhile for Dortmund, Malen and Gross are on in place of Duranville and Reyner.

Bensebaini is down with a knock for Dortmund but hobbles to his feet and looks like he should be able to continue.

Moments later and Yamal bursts past the full-back, who brings him down, already on a yellow. Play goes on and Barcelona go close through Olmo from the edge of the box before Lewandowski's effort from inside the area is blocked, but they want the red card.

The referee seems to suggest he played the advantage instead but it should still absolutely be a second yellow.

Steve McManaman on Raphinha’s goal for Barca: “The man who is in a rich vein of goal-scoring form smashes it in on his left foot passed [Gregor] Kobel who’s got no chance. Moving backwards, he almost gives up, the goalkeeper, thinking it’s going to be offside.”

Bensebaini picks up the yellow, and the suspension for the next game, for a pretty high and reckless challenge on Kounde. He will miss Dortmund's trip to Bologna.

Guirassy has a chance for a second! Reyna's ball from the right finds him on the edge of the box but his effort goes way over. It may have taken a bobble in fairness.

Guirassy, who won the penalty, steps up to take it and slots home into the bottom left corner. Pena dived the right way but it was tucked well in the corner, giving the keeper no chance.

As Sabitzer swings a cross in from the right, Cubarsi gives Guirassy a nudge in the back, sending the striker to the floor and the penalty is given! Soft but daft from the defender.

Dortmund substitue Couto picks up a yellow for tugging back Olmo who had just pinched it off him. Blatant.

Just before Barcelona's goal, Nmecha picked up a yellow for his protestations after giving away a foul.

As Barcelona probe around the edge of the area, Lewandowski is having a tussle with Schlottterbeck and both players goes down.

The Barcelona man is adamant he should have a foul but the decision goes to the home side. The right call from the referee.

Olmo turns nicely in midfield before driving at the defence and poking a pass in behind for Raphinha. The Barcelona captain takes it on into the left of the area before dispatching with his left foot into the bottom right corner. Great finish.

There is a VAR check for offside with it looking really close but the goal stands! 1-0 Barcelona.

Dortmund think they have the lead but the flag is up. A ball is played into the left channel to Sabitzer but his first touch takes it into the path of Gittens who was in an offside position.

The play goes on as the winger drives and delivers a good ball before Guirassy finishes from close range but the flag is then correctly raised against Gittens.
