Harry Kane 'deserves to win a trophy', says Owen Hargreaves - but Arsenal 'slight favourites' to beat Bayern Munich

Harry Kane has been a sensation in his debut campaign in Germany and Owen Hargreaves insists he deserves to end an "incredible" season with a trophy. However, with Bayer Leverkusen set to win the Bundesliga, the UEFA Champions League represents Bayern Munich's best chance of winning a trophy and Hargreaves acknowledges that quarter-final opponents Arsenal are "slight favourites" to advance.

'He's pushing us in new ways' - Odegaard on how Arteta is driving Arsenal players on

Owen Hargreaves feels that Harry Kane deserves to end an "incredible season" with a trophy but believes Arsenal will be "slight favourites" to beat Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.
With 31 goals in 27 Bundesliga games so far, Kane has Robert Lewandowski's record of 41 goals in one season in his sights.
Despite the striker's eye-watering numbers in front of goal, Thomas Tuchel's side face an uphill battle to retain their league crown - they are currently 16 points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen - with success in Europe their best chance of winning silverware this term.
But having been drawn against Mikel Arteta's high-flying Arsenal in the last-eight of the Champions League, Hargreaves believes that capturing Europe's most prized possession will be a difficult task.
The first leg takes place on Tuesday, April 9, with the second leg taking place on Wednesday, April 17, both of which are live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
Speaking with TNT Sports, Hargreaves said: "To be honest, I think Arsenal might just shade it with the season that they’ve had.
"Historically, Bayern have been the favourite in this game but they’ve had a bit of a tricky season. I think Bayern can salvage their season if they go through.

"But I think at the moment Arsenal are slight favourites but Bayern are dangerous underdogs if they get it right."
Despite Bayern's collective struggles so far this campaign, it has been quite the debut season for Kane, who has scored four hat-tricks, chipped in with four braces and registered seven assists. And yet there is a distinct possibility that he will end the season emptyhanded.
While Hargreaves - who won the Champions League with the Bavarians in 2000/01 - acknowledges Arsenal will be backed by many to progress to their first semi-final since 2008/09, he stresses that with Kane in such prolific form, Bayern cannot be taken lightly.
Hargreaves continued: "Harry Kane has been brilliant. In the London derby he proved he was almost always at his best. I think Harry will be delighted to be back in London and he’ll try to score the goals.
"He wants to win a trophy and if they get it right they could win the Champions League but they need him to be firing.
"Obviously, he wanted to go there to win some trophies, so far it hasn’t really worked out, but his numbers have been absolutely off the charts.

"I think playing with the likes of [Thomas] Muller, [Jamal] Musiala, [Joshua] Kimmich, [Leroy] Sane, [Serge] Gnabry, it has only enhanced that. He’s been brilliant as a goalscorer.
"Everybody’s just been impressed with Harry also off the pitch, what a gentleman he is, how humble he is. He’s had an incredible season and he deserves to win a trophy."
He added: "It's going to be tough for Bayern but if they play to their potential, I just think they are a little bit stronger and have a bit more experience. At the top of the pitch they have Kane, in goal they've got [Manuel] Neuer.
"I think if Bayern play to their best they can win the game but I just think Arsenal are a little bit more complete. If they press like they have in the Premier League then it could be very difficult for Bayern."
