Mohamed Salah out of second leg against Barcelona

The Egyptian received a heavy blow to the head during the Reds’ 3-2 win over Newcastle on Saturday. Liverpool must overturn a 3-0 first leg deficit at Anfield to reach the final.

Salah collided with goalkeeper Martin Dubravka in the second half of his side's win and had to be stretchered off, with the player in tears as he left the pitch.

There are also no chances of Roberto Firmino playing in the return leg after he missed the first leg with a muscle tear.

In a press conference before Tuesday night's match, manager Jurgen Klopp told the press: "Both Mo and Roberto are not available."

Klopp explained that Salah should be available for Sunday's game against Wolves, but concussion has ruled him out of the Barcelona game.

"It's concussion so he wouldn't be allowed to play. We cannot do it. He feels OK, but it is not good enough from a medical point of view," he said.

"That’s all. He’s desperate, everything, but we can't do it."

Klopp hoped the season would not end in double disappointment: "Together with our supporters this was a long season and there's a little chance to make it even longer. If not, these are the last two home games of an incredible season.

"We should celebrate it with a good performance on the pitch and in the stands."

Defender Trent Alexander-Arnold said Liverpool would have to be fearless to have a chance of progressing.

"That's the only way we're going to get a result. If we get caught up in fearing their players then that's not really going to work," Alexander-Arnold added.

"We have had decent results this season where we have scored more than three goals and being at home helps us. There's still that sense of belief but we know it's going to be hard. But anything is possible, especially at Anfield."
