Sergio Aguero was the hero once again as Manchester City booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League following an entertaining 2-2 draw at Lyon.
The Argentine forward rose highest to guide an 83rd minute header into the far corner and notch for the sixth consecutive away game in the competition.
Lyon had twice led through well-taken goals from Maxwel Cornet, with Aymeric Laporte's header cancelling out the Ivorian's super 55th minute opener.
The result means City remain three points clear at the top of Group F and have qualified for the knockout stage with a game to spare. The Citizens will be guaranteed to win the pool with a draw at home to Hoffenheim on Matchday Six.
Lyon must avoid defeat at Shakhtar Donetsk to confirm second spot after the Ukrainian outfit won 3-2 at Hoffenheim.

TALKING POINT.

Lyon give City a stern test (again). Many felt Lyon's win at the Etihad on Matchday One was down to a bad day at the office for the hosts and the fact Guardiola had to watch it from the stands. However, Les Gones once again demonstrated their attacking flair to give the Citizens plenty of problems throughout an end-to-end encounter. City have looked pretty imperious at home and abroad this term, but Lyon have twice demonstrated they can be hurt. Any sides looking for a game-plan ahead of facing Pep and Co could do worse than use Bruno Génésio's blueprint.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Aymeric Laporte (Man City). Another outstanding display at the heart of the City defence. The Frenchman continues to thrive this season and marked his superb evening with a goal.

KEY STAT

Aguero has scored in his last six Champions League away games – only Cristiano Ronaldo (12) has ever had a longer such streak in the competition.
