‘We go to give our last ciao together’ – Giorgio Chiellini pays emotional tribute to Davide Astori

Juventus vice-captain Giorgio Chiellini paid an emotional tribute to his friend and team-mate Davide Astori after his team’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Astori passed away on Sunday and the football world has been in mourning at the loss of the defender at the age of 31.
Chiellini, 33, was a team-mate of Astori’s with the national team and he was visibly fighting back the tears during the minute’s silence at Wembley ahead of the game.
After putting in an incredible defensive performance in the second half, Chiellini spoke to BT Sport and paid tribute to Astori.

"We dedicate this win to him but not only this match. I cry many times, I always believe in him because he was a fantastic player," said Chiellini.
"It's very difficult during the match because we have to think of the game and our opponents. It is not easy but he’s always in our heart. And tomorrow we go to give last 'ciao' together with our team-mates.
"It's difficult but we have to continue our lives. I think for us he was important for our national team, he always brought positive emotion and always smiled. We would like to continue to smile in our heart."
Chiellini will be one of those present at Astori’s funeral on Thursday.
