Marc Bartra ruled out for four weeks after surgery
Borussia Dortmund defender Marc Bartra has been ruled out for four weeks after having wrist surgery following Tuesday’s attack on the team bus, coach Thomas Tuchel has said.
The 26-year-old was operated on for a broken wrist and shrapnel in his arm – injuries sustained in the explosions shortly before the clash with Monaco in the Champions League.
"Marc Bartra will be out for around four weeks," Tuchel said on Thursday, adding that "he would play on Saturday if he could."
The match with Monaco was postponed until Wednesday, with Dortmund losing 3-2 at Signal Iduna Park, but many people – including former manager Jurgen Klopp – criticised the decision to play the match barely 24 hours after the incident.
Earlier on Thursday, Bartra took to Instagram to say he was “doing much better” after surgery.
