It came six years after Enrique's former Barcelona team-mate Pep Guardiola had led Barca to a historic quadruple in 2009.
“We are naturally very happy. After the wonderful year we’ve had, with difficulties but a very happy ending, we are more than thrilled about the hope of winning more titles," said Enrique.
"Everything that we have ahead of us in more than exciting.”
"We've closed the deal for Luis Enrique to remain as Barcelona coach until 2017," said Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
"We have set aside resources to bring in the world's best players - those who everyone wants to sign," said Bartomeu.
“The season has been very long and competitive. In the summer Andoni Zubizarreta and his team remodelled the squad and backed Enrique. The new additions have adapted and ended discussions about the goalkeeper and the centre-backs. We have a team for the long haul.
“This is a magic moment. With Enrique and Lionel Messi, we have closed a winning cycle and opened another. They’ve done that without anyone noticing. They have overcome impossible challenges.
“It’s crazy the goals Messi scores. Nobody knows his limit. We are the envy of everyone because Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez have broken all the records.
“It’s also a special day for me. I present my resignation to make way for elections. In these elections the club should choose the model for the club. I anticipate I will defend my model because I think we have done well, because I think the club should continue to lead world football. I hope the campaign is marked by civility.
“I want to finish by thanking the board and all those who participate in this club. We are the best team in the world, the best club in the world and the best fans in the world. Visca Barca and Visca Catalonia.”
Barcelona confirmed their delight with Enrique while the former Barca player had said that he was happy to commit his future to the club in the aftermath of the victory over Juventus.
Enrique won Liga and the Copa del Rey twice as a player with Barcelona after arriving from Real Madrid in 1996.
He began work as a coach at Barcelona in 2008 overseeing the club's B team before moving to Italy to manage Roma three years ago.
He succeeded Gerardo Martino as Barcelona coach last summer afternoon after coaching Celta Vigo to ninth place in the Liga standings last year including a 2-0 win over Real Madrid.
Much of his success in his first season at Barcelona coach arrived from a forward line of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar that plundered an astonishing 122 goals and 55 in a glorious season.
It helped Enrique through a sticky spell after Barca lost 3-1 at Real Madrid in late October to place doubts over his position.
