Shakhtar's Luiz Adriano charged over 'cheat' goal

Brazilian forward Adriano, 25, rounded the Danish club's keeper to score after an uncontested drop-ball in the first half of the Group E match in Copenhagen.

The display of unsportsmanlike conduct was met with widespread anger, although the referee failed to act, even when Shakhtar failed to allow the hosts to score direct from the kick-off, as is customary when such incidents occur.

"Luiz Adriano faces charges for violation of the principles of conduct (Article 5, UEFA Disciplinary Regulations), and his case will be heard by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on Tuesday 27 November," UEFA said in a statement.

The Danish side had been leading 1-0 when the initial incident occurred and, after apparent advice from the referee, their Ukrainian visitors seemed willing to let them score uncontested from the restart after Adriano's indiscretion.

However, midfielder Taras Stepanenko tackled Nordsjaelland's Nicolai Stokholm as he ran towards goal. There was no mention of Stepanenko's intervention in UEFA's statement.

Nordsjaelland did regain the lead soon afterwards, but Shakhtar went on to win 5-2 - with Adriano scoring a hat-trick. Shakhtar coach Mircea Lucescu apologised afterwards and blamed both incidents on a "misunderstanding".

The result saw Shakhtar progress to the last 16 of the Champions League, with Nordsjaelland's slim hopes ended.
