On Saturday evening, Borussia Dortmund won their first Der Klassiker since 2019 when they beat Bayern Munich away, securing a 2-0 victory. The win means Dortmund are in fourth place and in the hunt for a UEFA Champions League spot, but the loss also led Tuchel to concede that his team's chances of beating Bayer Leverkusen to the title have now ended.

‘A terrible decision’ – Cole questions Alonso for snubbing Liverpool and Bayern

Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel conceded the Bundesliga title and offered “congratulations” to Bayer Leverkusen after his side lost to Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern were beaten 2-0 at home to Dortmund with goals from Karim Adeyemi and Julian Ryerson, giving the away side their first Der Klassiker win in five years.
Leverkusen had beaten Hoffenheim earlier on Saturday to establish a 13-point lead over the current champions.
Tuchel will leave Bayern at the end of the season as the manager who ended Bayern’s exceptional run of titles.
Xabi Alonso’s men have not been beaten in the league for the current campaign and are now almost certain to win the Bundesliga title.
After the match, Tuchel was asked if the title race was over, he said: "Obviously, yes.
"After today's game there is no more need to count points. How many is it now? Congratulations to Leverkusen.
"We are very disappointed because we felt we did not bring the necessary passion to win the game. It was too little from us when it came to the basics."
The win was a further boost to Leverkusen after Alonso had ended speculation that he would leave the club in the summer.
The former Liverpool midfielder had been linked with the chance to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, as well as the chance to join another of his old clubs when Tuchel departs.
Leverkusen need just three wins from seven matches remaining to be sure of the title, which would be the first in the club’s history.
Dortmund are now three points clear of RB Leipzig in fifth, as the fourth-placed team chase UEFA Champions League football for next season.
