Alexander Meier played the role of Eintracht Frankfurt hero, scoring all three of his team's goals in a 3-2 win over Wolfsburg. The visitors actually dominated the first half and even took a 1-0 lead into the break, but Meier brought his team back. He scored two goals in six minutes to put Frankfurt in front and while Andre Schurrle scored 10 minutes from time to bring Wolfsburg level, that just set the stage for Meier one more time. New signing Marco Fabian made a terrific run to elude two defenders. His cross was punched, but only to the edge of the six-yard box, where Meier was able to find the ball and knock it home in extra time to secure the win.

Werder Bremen took a big step in their bid to get out of the relegation fight with a come-from-behind win over at Schalke. The home side got off to a quick start, with Joel Matip scoring just four minutes in, but they failed to capitalize on several opportunities to add to the lead. Werder Bremen took advantage of Schalke's wastefulness, with Clemens Fritz bringing the visitors level just two minutes before the break. The Bremen captain continued his fine play in the second half, first by hitting the cross that Claudio Pizarro buried to take the lead, then by making the run and cross that Anthony Ujah knocked in. Bremen are now four points clear of the drop.
