Pep Guardiola never shared “true love” with his Bayern Munich players, according to German great Lothar Matthaus.

The 44-year-old is primed for a switch to the Premier League when his contract at Bayern expires at the end of the season.
The general consensus is that Guardiola’s next destination will be Manchester City, although the Spaniard has claimed he has several offers in England.
But Matthaus is adamant he will become City manager and, as a result, claims he is no longer fully focused on life at the Allianz Arena.
“Guardiola can say what he wants,” Matthaus wrote in Sport Bild. “The squad-planning for Manchester City is too important for him to have his head 100 per cent with Bayern Munich.
“That's a dangerous situation to be in.
“Guardiola will have five difficult months in Munich. There never was true love between Guardiola and the Bayern players.”

Despite back-to-back Bundesliga titles during his reign at Bayern, one shadow continues to loom over Guardiola: his failure in the Champions League.
Bayern have cruised through the opening stages under the former Barcelona manager, but crumbled twice at the semi-final stage with their tactics coming under fire.
“Of course I want to win with Bayern this trophy,” Guardiola said at a press conference.
“But it is not easy. I've lost in 51 games only once. That's worth more than the Champions League. I'll never reach again.”
