WISSA AND MASUAKU STRIKE AS CONGO COME FROM BEHIND TO REACH THE SEMI FINALS OF AFCON
DR Congo came from behind to win 3-1 against Guinea, securing a place in the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations. The Congolese will face either Mali or hosts Ivory Coasts who play tomorrow evening.
The game got off to a frantic start with Guinea adamantly appealing for a penalty in the first minute before a defensive mix up at the other end presented Wissa with a golden opportunity from eight yards out, but the Brentford man dragged his shot wide.
As the half went on the game settled slightly until Guinea were awarded a penalty as Congo captain Mbemba was adjudged to have pushed Guinea striker Bayo in the box. After a lengthy delay Bayo kept his cool and confidently despatched the penalty.
However, Guinea’s lead would be short lived as minutes later a DR Congo corner found Mbemba at the back post who brought the ball down before smashing it into the roof of the net with a finish any player would be proud of. Following the mandatory water break the games pace dropped and both sides looked happy to go in level.
The second half was a much slower affair being broken up by constant fouls and substitutions. Yet Congo consistently looked more threatening and took the lead through the games second penalty when substitute Mvumpa was tripped after being on the pitch a matter of moments.
Wissa converted the penalty giving Congo the lead for the first time on the night. The game was won in the final ten minutes when former West Ham man Masuaku spotted the Guinea goalkeeper off his line and struck a clever free kick which snuck into the near post.
The result sees Congo through to the semi-finals for the first time since 2015.

LATE CHANCE FOR GUINEA
This about sums up their night. They get the ball into the box but the final play is scruffy. However the ball does find a target but the shot is skied. Can they do anything from the corner...

GUINEA TRYING TO MAKE A GAME OF IT
Despite the deficit the Guinean's are still pushing but they're just looking that final ball. Keita has driven them forward at times but has been wasteful in the final third.

CONGO KEEPING IT CALM
Congo are just looking to see this game out now. They're in no rush with throw ins or free kicks and are picking their moments to attack selectively. Can Guinea give them anything?

GOAL! DR CONGO 3-1 GUINEA (MASUAKU)
That will seal it surely! And no surprise it's a free kick. Clever from Masuaku who sees the keeper off his line and whips the free kick from outwide straight into the near post!

FOULS GALORE
The game is really being disturbed by fouls now. Congo have had a few opportunities to whip the ball into the box but have wasted them. If you're a Congo fan this is exactly the type of game you will want for the last ten minutes.

WATERBREAK
The referee calls for the waterbreak and Congo will be the happiest of the two sides. Guinea have a chance to regroup. There is still plenty of time for an equaliser or potentially more...

GUINEA GETTING ON THE BALL MORE
With the impetus now on them Guinea are having more possession and working the ball forward. Congo have dropped into two banks of four in attempt to make life difficult

CONGO CLOCKWATCHING
There's a notable drop in the pace of place from the Congolese. They're aware they need to manage this game now.
