Manchester United boss Marc Skinner described captain Maya Le Tissier as an "incredible character" after her goal in a 3-1 Women’s FA Cup quarter-final win over Sunderland.
Le Tissier scored United’s second goal in the match, and speaking after the win, Skinner praised the 22-year-old, saying: "I’m so happy with her because, in the last few games, she has driven this team.
"The growth of her leadership qualities... She takes control and it is incredible. For her to do what she does, I’m really happy. She is an incredible character and footballer."
United remained on course to retain the trophy with the victory on Saturday evening.
Sunderland were the only team still in the tournament from the Women’s Championship, a division below the Women’s Super League, where United compete.
The home side started as favourites, and Leah Galton headed United in front after seven minutes.

United skipper Le Tissier made it two in first-half added time, heading in a corner from Gabby George.
With the score 2-0 at half-time, the visitors had yet to manage a shot on target.
However, despite United continuing to press in the second half, it was Sunderland who scored next.
An attempted clearance inside the United box struck Sunderland substitute Louise Griffiths with 20 minutes remaining, and the ball evaded goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce.
United’s nerves held for the remainder of the match, and Ella Toone settled the tie with a stoppage-time header.
