Lithuania's Tomas Vaitkus flew to victory in the men's under 23 time-trial of the Zolder World Championships. In an unbelievable time of 38'40", Vaitkus beat Russia's Bespalov by close to one minute.

After the Italian double in the women's junior time-trial, the Eastern European countries had their revenge in the men's under 23 timed race.
Taking off in penultimate position, Tomas Vaitkus crossed the line in an astonishing time of 38:40.80, well in font of Alexandr Bespalov who had already impressed.
Race favourite Sebastien Rosseler on home soil had to settle with a disappointing seventh place while bronze medal went to Portugal's Sergio Paulinho.
