Matthews wins Stage 6 by width of tyre

Michael Matthews won Stage 6 of the Tour of Cataluyna in the tightest of finishes from Phil Bauhaus (WorldTeam Bahrain-Merida).

The Team Sunweb rider looked to have the win in the bag in the final 30 metres before tying up just before the line but clinging on by the width of a tyre in a photo-finish.

It was the Australian's second win of the race. Daryl Impey came in third, with Miguel Angel Lopez retaining the overall lead.

There were a number of crashes towards the end of the stage - as well as attack from General Classification contenders.

Lopez was one of those who attacked but was caught around 1500m from the finish before Matthews went on to take the victory.
