Hoy sets new world record

Chris Hoy has beaten the world 500m time trial record by more than a second in Bolivia.

The 31-year-old from Edinburgh clocked a time of 24.758 seconds at the high-altitude velodrome in La Paz.
That comfortably beat Arnaud Duble's mark of 25.85 that had stood for six years.
Hoy had earlier missed out on Arnaud Tournant's 1km record, the discipline in which the Scot is the Olympic champion.
Hoy clocked 59.103 and then 58.88, just five thousandths slower than the Frenchman's mark set at the same venue.
The Alto Irpavi velodrome is the highest in the world, 3417m above sea level admist the Andes.
