Geraint Thomas has been confirmed as the new director of racing at Ineos Grenadiers.
The two-time Olympic gold medallist and 2018 Tour de France champion takes on this new role, which will see him work closely with Sir Dave Brailsford, Dr. Scott Drawer, and the Ineos senior management team.
Thomas said on his appointment: "This team has been my home since day one, and stepping into this role feels like a natural next step.
"I’ve learnt so much from the people around me - fellow riders and staff - and I now want to continue building on our incredible past success into the future.
"I’m passionate about helping the next generation come through, to pass on that experience and keep pushing the team forward towards our mission of winning Grand Tours again.
"The Grenadiers will continue to race with purpose, humility and a commitment to excellence - and I’m excited to help shape that future."
Brailsford added: "Geraint typifies what it means to be a Grenadier. He has lived and breathed elite performance throughout his career. He always set himself very ambitious goals and invariably went on to achieve them.
"He knows what the process takes, how to deal with the highs and lows of elite sport and his willingness now to share this and mentor others to do the same is a great asset for the team. The fact that he has stayed so humble and always maintained a great sense of humour are also great attributes to bring to his new role."
Thomas ended his cycling career in September at the Tour of Britain, in an emotional homecoming in Cardiff.
"It was emotional crossing over the line," he told TNT Sports. "I was riding through Birch Grove and all the fans, I was almost choking up riding my bike, which was weird. Then to cross the line with Swifty [Ben Swift - Ineos team-mate] who I've raced with since I was 12.
"It's definitely emotional and super special.
"I've been saying since the route was announced, to finish here was unbelievable. To finish here is full circle. To ride past Mynydd [Caerffili] where it all started, there's no better way."
When discussing the support from the fans, he added: "It was unreal, the atmosphere riding in and up Caerphilly Mountain.
"It's been insane, and riding through here with all the people just going nuts. It's just mad that people care that much about me doing well, as it is what I do.
"It meant so much, what a way to finish."

Ineos will be leaning on Thomas' expertise to end their long wait for a Grand Tour, since Egan Bernal's success at the 2021 Giro d'Italia.
This appointment extends Thomas' association with Ineos, which goes back to 2010, under their previous incarnation as Team Sky.
There were signs of improvement in 2025 for Ineos as they won 28 races, doubling their total from 2024.

Ineos are also going through a period of change, with sports directors Zak Dempster and Oli Cookson leaving to join Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe.
